DROPS Membership
About DROPS Asia & DROPS Forum Membership
The DROPS Asia chapter which facilitates the DROPS Forum enables cross-company collaboration, practical knowledge sharing, and hands-on support for organisations building or strengthening their dropped-object prevention programs. As part of the global DROPS community, the Asia chapter plays a regional role in promoting consistent prevention standards across onshore and offshore operations. We maintain close engagement with engineering, HSE, and operational leaders to track emerging risks, new technologies, and proven mitigation strategies.
We assist member companies throughout the region with the implementation of effective DROPS frameworks while supporting alignment with international best practices. Through active collaboration with operators, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and inspection companies, we help ensure that prevention programs remain current and grounded in real operational challenges. We also contribute to industry awareness initiatives, share incident learnings, and support cross-company efforts aimed at reducing high-potential dropped-object incidents.
We support member companies in various ways depending on their operational needs. The core member benefits include:

Frequently Asked Questions
DROPS Asia membership is open to organisations, rather than individuals, that have an interest in reducing the risk of dropped objects and improving safety performance. All membership applications are subject to review and approvalto ensure alignment with the objectives, values, and collaborative nature of the DROPS Asia Chapter.
Membership benefits are primarily designed to support two broad categories of organisations:
1. Asset owners, operators, and major contractors
This includes operators, drilling contractors, major service partners, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). For these organisations, DROPS Asia membership focuses on:
Sharing operational experience and lessons learned
Access to forums, workshops, and peer discussion
Practical tools, guidance, and checklists to support DROPS risk management and vendor evaluation
Collaboration on regionally relevant DROPS initiatives
2. Vendors of DROPS-related products and services
This includes companies providing DROPS-related services, technologies, equipment, inspection, engineering, or training. DROPS Asia recognises that dedicated vendors play an important role in developing practical solutions to prevent and mitigate harm from dropped-object hazards.
For these organisations, membership provides:
Opportunities to network directly with their target audience, including operators, contractors, and OEMs
Insight into operational challenges and user needs that can inform product and service development
Guidance and dialogue to support route-to-market considerations in a safety-led, non-promotional environment
Participation in technical discussions, workshops, and learning events focused on real-world application
Engagement is intended to support improvement, learning, and alignment with industry needs, rather than product endorsement or marketing.
DROPS Asia is a collaborative forum focused on learning, sharing, and continuous improvement. Members are expected to engage constructively and support the overall objective of reducing dropped-object risk across the industry.
Individual practitioners may participate in DROPS Asia and DROPS Forum activities through their employer’s membership or by invitation to specific events.
Dropsonline membership
Dropsonline refers to the first DROPS workgroup established in Aberdeen. This chapter focuses hosting forums in Aberdeen, on the development and maintenance of DROPS recommended practices and guidance and is administered by Silverdot. Dropsonline operates as an independent organisation alongside other DROPS chapters, including DROPS Asia, with no governance or authority over their activities.
DROPS Asia
Established in 2009, DROPS Asia is an independently established regional chapter dedicated to advancing dropped‑object prevention across the Asia region. Over time, it has developed and delivered regionally relevant initiatives such as webinars, training sessions, and digital tools, shaped by the needs of companies operating in the region. DROPS Asia membership supports the continued development of these initiatives and enables members to directly engage in and benefit from them.
DROPS Forum
DROPS Forum is the platform through which DROPS Asia delivers its events, tools, and initiatives. It serves as the central hub for forums, workshops, webinars, and practical resources developed specifically to support dropped‑object prevention in the Asia‑Pacific region and beyond. DROPS Forum focuses on active engagement, applied learning, and accessible tools for practitioners.
DROPS Forum benefits are included as part of DROPS Asia Chapter membership. Organisations that join DROPS Asia automatically gain access to DROPS Forum events, tools, and resources, with no separate or additional membership required for DROPS Forum. As significant resources go into organizing these events and developing new solutions and tools, not all benefits of the DROPS Forum are available to dropsonline members. But we endeavor to make most of the resources freely available to members and non-members of the Asia Chapter.

Yes. Organisations that join DROPS Asia receive a membership certificate confirming their participation in the DROPS Asia Chapter.
Members are permitted to use this certificate as proof of DROPS Asia membership, including in tenders, bids, and pre‑qualification submissions. The certificate confirms participation in the chapter and engagement with its activities.
However, DROPS Asia recommends that organisations evaluating tenders or bids do not treat DROPS Asia membership as the sole or decisive indicator of a company’s DROPS capability. DROPS Asia does not assess, verify, audit, or approve the DROPS programs of its members, and the membership certificate should not be interpreted as evidence of the quality, maturity, or effectiveness of a company’s DROPS program.
Membership demonstrates engagement and commitment to learning and collaboration, but it should be considered alongside other technical, operational, and safety evidence provided during bid evaluation.
To support more informed and consistent evaluation, DROPS Asia offers its members workshops, guidance, and practical checklists that can be used to assess DROPS risks and vendor arrangements more appropriately. These tools are intended to support structured decision-making, but they do not replace an organisation’s own technical, operational, or contractual due diligence.
DROPS Asia recognises that members may wish to reference their participation in the chapter. Members may make factual statements about their DROPS Asia membership in appropriate contexts.
DROPS Asia does not promote the use of the DROPS name or logo on company websites, products, or services. This is to avoid any suggestion that DROPS Asia or the DROPS Forum operates as an accreditation, certification, or assurance body.
DROPS Asia and the DROPS Forum do not certify, validate, or endorse the products, services, or DROPS programs of member organisations. Strong DROPS programs exist both within and outside the membership, and participation alone should not be interpreted as a measure of performance, compliance, or capability.
Any external reference to DROPS Asia membership should therefore be factual, proportionate, and clearly framed as participation in a collaborative safety initiative rather than an assessment of quality or performance.
