AI can discover and run the same calculator used on this website; it does not provide an independent formula or a safety approval.
What an assistant can calculate
The calculate_drop_consequence tool accepts a positive mass and drop height, each with explicit units: kg or lbs, and m or ft. It can return one scenario or compare up to ten scenarios, including the underlying model thresholds for each.
The result is a consequence screen from the upstream DROPS Calculator. Energy is reported alongside the model classification; energy alone is not the classification and is not an impact-force, injury-probability, or safe-to-work determination. Use the result within a task-specific assessment and the applicable controls.
Discovering is different from executing
Discovery means an assistant can see that the calculator tool and its input contract exist. Execution means the assistant is actually connected to an enabled channel and can send your explicit scenario to it. A provider’s documentation or a listed launcher does not by itself make the tool available in that provider.
WebMCP runs in a compatible live browser page. Remote MCP and MCP Apps are hosted connections and depend on the provider, account, deployment configuration, and any required approval. A chart is an optional host-rendered result card; it is not a second calculation method.
The platform buttons use remote MCP only: first connect DROPS Forum and enable it in your chat, then send a request. They do not launch browser tools. If a tool call fails, there is no verified calculator result; reconnect and retry instead of substituting an AI-generated calculation or chart.
DROPS Forum is one remote MCP connection, starting with the calculator at /api/ai-tools/mcp. Future services can be added to that connection with their own permissions. Availability remains subject to provider setup and release acceptance.
Platform status
- ChatGPT: the button requires a remote connection. Public one-click connection remains pending publication, ChatGPT acceptance and explicit release approval.
- Claude: remote connector publication remains pending Claude acceptance and explicit release approval.
- Microsoft Copilot: MCP Apps publication remains pending Copilot acceptance and explicit release approval.
- Gemini: custom MCP is a personal, US-English web feature entered by manual URL where available; it is not a Workspace deployment. Chart rendering is unverified.
- Perplexity: its documentation describes remote MCP support as coming soon. A remote calculator connection and chart are not verified.
- Grok: a custom URL is a manual or team-admin setup; no public calculator installation is available.
There are no public install IDs. Existing remote calculator tests cover ChatGPT and Claude only; release still requires independent, explicit approval and successful acceptance by a new user.
Current deployment channels: WebMCP enabled; remote MCP enabled; optional chart enabled.
Use this calculator with AI
An AI assistant can use the same DROPS Calculator to screen a dropped object scenario when you provide an explicit mass, height, and units. It can compare up to ten scenarios in one request.
Results show consequence thresholds from the existing calculator model. They are screening information, not a declaration that work is safe, an impact-force calculation, or a substitute for a task-specific risk assessment. No DROPS login is required for the calculator tool.
Platform buttons are for remote MCP connections inside your AI chat. Connecting the tool comes before sending a calculation request.
Separately, compatible browser agents visiting this page can use its WebMCP tools. The platform buttons do not use that browser route.
