Please be advised that the Dropsafe Omega Ring is currently in the testing stage. Where appropriate, we recommend our members to work on small scale testing projects in close collaboration with the OEM of the equipment where this secondary retention device is used. The Omega ring is not proposed as a one-for-one replacement for the split pin.
Following discussion during the recent DROPS Wells Forum, Dropsafe will present the Omega Ring as a proposed alternative to traditional split pins / cotter pins in selected secondary retention applications when recommended by the OEM.
The session will look at the practical problem the Omega Ring is intended to address: correct installation, inspection, durability, re-use, snagging, corrosion, and the risk of pin devices being knocked loose in the field. Dropsafe will explain the concept, intended use cases, limitations, and how the solution may support reliable securing of equipment at height.
The presentation will be followed by Q&A with DROPS Asia Chapter members, with discussion around alignment with DROPS Reliable Securing principles, OEM requirements, lifting and hoisting considerations, and what field evidence or controls would be needed before adoption.
This session is intended to help members understand and challenge the proposed solution. It should not be treated as formal DROPS endorsement or product approval.
This event is free of charge to attend for members. Non-members may opt to either pay the registration fee or use the coupon OMEGA26 for a 100% discount sponsored by Dropsafe.
Registrations for non-members are subject to approval by the chapter secretary.
